The white mauve, scientific name Sida cordifolia L. is a plant with medicinal properties that has tonic, astringent, emollient and aphrodisiac properties.
This plant grows in vacant lots, in pastures and even in sandy soils, not needing much care. Its flowers are large with yellow or white petals and the central orange region and can reach 1.5 meters in height.
Other names of the white mallow are Bala, Kungyi and Country mallow.
What is it for
White mallow is good for urinary tract infection, sore throat, rheumatism, colic and anxiety, improve sexual strength.
In addition, the plant has depressant effect of the central nervous system, being a good option to calm. It can also be used to lower both blood pressure and heart rate, and it lowers blood sugar. It also has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect.
How to use
It can be used in the form of tea prepared with industrialized dry leaves.
- For tea: Put 1 teaspoon into a cup and cover with 180 ml of boiling water, cover with a saucer and wait 3 minutes or until blended. Take properly cooked up to 2 times a day.
Contraindications
It should not be used at the same time as caffeine-containing or coffee-based medicines because the combination can put a person's life at risk. It should also not be used during pregnancy, breastfeeding, in case of hypertension, heart disease, thyroid or prostate abnormalities, or people taking MAO inhibitors, such as antidepressants.
Side effects
The white mauve when used in large amounts, can cause side effects like insomnia, anxiety, nervousness, increased blood pressure, memory loss or even stroke.
