Rapifen is an opioid analgesic that binds to opioid receptors in the central nervous system thus inhibiting the pain pathway. Alfentanil is the active ingredient of this analgesic and anesthetic adjuvant for injectable use.
Rapifen is not generic but the drug named Alfast has a similar effect.
Indications
Auxiliary in anesthesia; analgesia in short-term surgical procedures.
Side effects
Bronchial allergy; colic; mental confusion; constipation; convulsions; respiratory depression; decreased heart rate; skin rash; euphoria; lack of appetite; nausea; disturbance of the heart rhythm; drop in blood pressure; sedation; postoperative drowsiness; dizziness; vomiting.
Contraindications
Pregnancy risk C; hypersensitivity to diphenoxylate, fentanyl, meperidine or sufentanil.
How to use
Adults: Doses should be calculated according to weight, physical conditions, medications used and the duration of the surgical procedure.
Elderly: may be more sensitive to the product.
Obese patients: the dose should be determined based on the ideal weight.
