The natural treatment for anemia involves a diet rich in foods rich in iron, such as black beans, red meats, beef liver, chicken gizzards, beets, lentils and peas, for example.
See the amount of iron present in 100 g of these foods in: Foods rich in Iron.
These foods should be consumed daily to increase blood iron stores and should be well distributed throughout the day. However it is not recommended to take milk along with iron-rich foods because calcium impairs the absorption of iron.
Here is an example of a 1-day menu:
Breakfast | 1 glass of orange juice, carrot and kale 1 bread with seeds with honey or jam |
Collation | Artemisia tea or pariri |
Lunch | Rice, black beans with beets, stewed beef steak and 1 glass of orange juice |
Snack | 1 glass of carrot juice, apple and watercress |
Dinner | Pasta with roasted meat and green salad (lettuce, arugula and broccoli cooked) |
Supper |
Artemisia tea or pariri |
After starting this treatment, it is recommended to wait about 90 days to do the blood test again to see if you are still anemic. However, in the case of severe anemia, popularly known as deep anemia, in addition to proper nutrition the doctor may indicate supplementation with iron and monthly blood test.
