The araçá, also known as araçá-do-campo or araçá-Amarelo, is a species belonging to the family Myrtaceae, which can be found in Brazil.
The scientific name of araçá isPsidium cattleyanum S., it is a species of a tree about 3 to 6 meters high, whose fruits have a large berry, with a yellow or red color when ripe, which have antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
What properties and benefits
The plant is normally very resistant to diseases and pests, due to its antimicrobial properties, so it can help to fight infections, flu and colds, especially because the fruits of araçá contain a large amount of vitamin C, much more than food citrus fruits like lemon or orange, being a potent antioxidant that strengthens the immune system.

Araça is a fruit composed of water, mineral salts, malic acid, sugar, cellulose, fat, retinol, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin C, calcium, phosphorus, iron, carotenoids and fiber, which in addition to their therapeutic properties, it is also very useful in the preparation of jams, sweets, jellies, ice creams and juices.
Araçá also has anthocyanins and phenolic compounds in its composition with potent antioxidant activity.
