Neotigason is an anti psoriasis and antidiceratosis medication, which uses acitretin as an active ingredient. It is an oral medicine presented in capsules that should not be chewed but always eaten with food.
Indications
Severe psoriasis; severe keratinization disorders.
Side effects
Atherosclerosis; dry mouth; conjunctivitis; peeling of the skin; decreased night vision; joint pain; headache; muscle pain; bone pain; reversible elevations in serum triglyceride and cholesterol levels; transient and reversible elevations in transaminases and alkaline phosphatases; nose bleed; inflammation of the tissues around the nails; worsening of the symptoms of the disease; bone problems; pronounced hair loss; cracking of the lips; brittle nails.
Contraindications
Pregnancy risk X; breast-feeding; hypersensitivity to acitretin or retinoids; severe liver failure; severe renal failure; woman with the potential to become pregnant; patient with abnormally high blood lipid values.
How to use
Adults:
Severe psoriasis 25 to 50 mg in a single daily dose, after 4 weeks it can reach up to 75 mg / day. Maintenance: 25 to 50 mg in a single daily dose, up to 75 mg / day.
Severe keratinization disorders: 25 mg in a single daily dose, after 4 weeks it can reach up to 75 mg / day. Maintenance: 1 to 50 mg in a single dose.
Elderly: may be more sensitive to the usual doses.
Children: Severe keratinization disorders: start at 0.5 mg / kg / weight in a single daily dose, and may, without exceeding 35 mg / day, reach up to 1 mg. Maintenance: 20 mg or less in a single daily dose.
