Anagrelide is an antiplatelet drug known commercially as Agrylin.
This medication for oral use has a mechanism of action that is not well understood, but its effectiveness is guaranteed in the treatment of thrombocythemia.

Side Effects of Anagrelide
Palpitation; increased heart rate; chest pain; headache; dizziness; swelling; chills; fever; weakness; lack of appetite; abnormal burning sensation; tingling or prickling to the touch; nausea; abdominal pain; diarrhea; gases; vomiting; indigestion; eruption; itch.
Contraindications for Anagrelide
Pregnancy Risk C; lactating women; patients with severe liver failure; Hipersensibility to any of the formula's components.
Directions for use of Anagrelide
Oral use
Adults
- Thrombocythaemia: Start treatment with 0.5 mg four times a day or 1 mg twice a day. Treatment should last for 1 week.
Maintenance: 1.5 to 3 mg per day (adjust to lowest effective dose).
Children and Adolescents from 7 to 14 years old
- Start with 0.5 mg daily for a week. The maintenance dose should be between 1.5 to 3 mg per day (adjust to the lowest effective dose).
Maximum recommended dose: 10 mg daily or 2.5 mg as a single dose.
Patients with moderate hepatic impairment
- Reduce starting dose to 0.5 mg daily for at least a week. Increase the dose gradually respecting increments of a maximum of 0.5 mg per day each week.
