How is the MAP exam done?
To take the MAPA test, you need a special equipment, which contains a clamp, of varied sizes. An arm is attached to the patient's arm attached to an electronic device, which can be carried in the belt or pocket. During the examination, the patient should follow a normal day, taking care not to wet the device and always if possible, be still when the device beeps, with the arm resting and stretched, since the pressure of that moment will be recorded.
After 24 hours, the patient should return to the office to remove the cuff and the physician will perform the evaluation of the data, indicating the most appropriate treatment for the patient.
Care during the MAP exam
The patient should do their normal daily activities during the ABPM examination, however, some important care is:
- Prevent the clamp tube from becoming twisted or bent;
- Avoid physical exercise;
- Do not shower.
In addition, it is also important that if the patient takes any medication, note in the diary or notebook the name of the medication and the time when you took it and then show the doctor.
