Indux is a medicine that contains clomiphene citrate, a substance that blocks the effect of the estrogen hormone in the brain and increases the production of FSH and LH by the pituitary gland. These two hormones are natural substances that stimulate the functioning of the ovaries, facilitating ovulation.
This way, this remedy can be indicated by the doctor in cases of difficulty to get pregnant, especially when the infertility can be related to the lack of ovulation.
Indux can be purchased from conventional pharmacies after prescription, in the form of tablets containing 50 mg of the active substance. Other commercial names for this medicine are Clomid or Serophene, which also contain 50 mg of clomiphene citrate.
Price
The price of this medicine can vary between 20 and 30 reais for a box with 10 tablets of 50 mg, varying according to the place of purchase.
What is it for
Indux is indicated to treat some cases of female infertility, especially in women with irregular menstruation, lack of ovulation or with infertility without apparent cause.
In addition, it may also be indicated to stimulate egg production before performing artificial insemination or any other assisted reproductive technique.
How to use
Indux treatment should be done in 3 cycles of 5 days, separated by 30 days, or as directed by your doctor. Usually the dose indicated for each cycle is:
- First cycle: 1 tablet of 50 mg per day;
- Second and third cycle: 2 tablets of 50 mg per day.
If it is necessary to schedule ovulation according to the woman's menstrual cycle, treatment cycles should be started 5 days after the start of the normal menstrual cycle.
If ovulation occurs during the first course of treatment, the doctor may choose to interrupt or maintain the remaining cycles. However, there is no need to increase the dose of treatment, and one tablet of 50 mg per day should be maintained during the 2nd and 3rd cycles.
Possible side effects
Some of the more common side effects include vision changes, abdominal discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting, abnormal vaginal bleeding, painful urination, increased heart rate, and palpitations.
In some women, Indux can cause fluid retention and increased appetite, and can therefore lead to increased body weight, especially if many caloric foods are ingested without exercise.
Who should not use
This medication should not be used in people with a history of allergy to comipen or patients with liver problems, hormone-dependent tumors, or women with an ovarian cyst, except polycystic ovary, or with unexplained abnormal vaginal bleeding.
Also, it can not be used during breastfeeding or pregnancy and it is recommended to stop indux immediately if a pregnancy occurs during any of the treatment cycles.
