The Black Picker is a medicinal plant, also popularly known as Picão, Pica-pica or Amor de mulher, used to treat inflammations such as arthritis, sore throat or muscle pain due to its excellent anti-inflammatory properties.
Typically, the Black Picker grows in the hot regions of South America and therefore is very common in Brazil, especially in clean gardens, without toxic products and away from the streets. The Black Picker is a small plant with a dark green stem and slightly lighter leaves.
The scientific name of the Picão-preto is Bidens pilosa and the plant can be bought in natural products stores, fairs and some supermarkets.
What is the Black Picket
The black pickle is used to help treat inflammations such as rheumatism, sore throat, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, hepatitis and menstrual cramps, for example. In addition, the black pickle can also be used for cough, gastric ulcers, general stomach pain, urinary infections and to keep blood sugar levels controlled in the case of diabetes.

The properties of black pepper include its anti-inflammatory, diuretic, antioxidant and anti-diabetic action.
How to use the Black Picker
All parts of the plant can be used to make infusions that can be used for gargling or warm compresses.
- Black-pepper infusion for stomach or hepatitis problems: Place ½ cup of dried plant parts in a pan with ½ liter of water and boil for 10 to 15 minutes. Filter the mixture and drink 1 cup 4 to 6 times a day;
- Garbanzos of Picão-preto for inflamed sore throat, tonsillitis or pharyngitis: prepare the infusion, let cool until warm and gargle 3 times a day;
- Warm black- pickled compresses for rheumatism and muscular pain: prepare the infusion of black-bellied pimple, allow to cool until lukewarm, dip compresses or gauze cleanses in the mixture and then apply on sore joints or muscles.
Side Effects of Black Picker
There are no side effects reported for Black Snapper, however, the plant should be used with caution avoiding to exceed the daily doses recommended in the mode of use.
Contraindications of Picão-preto
Contraindications of the Black Pecker are not described, but pregnant women, nursing women and children should not use the plant without informing the obstetrician or pediatrician.
