Calluses or callosities are hard areas located in the outermost layer of skin that arises due to the constant friction that the area undergoes, usually affecting hands, feet or elbows.
There are some home remedies that can reduce the thickness of calluses or even eliminate them permanently.
1. Exfoliating corn meal and almond oil
A great way to eliminate calluses is to massage your feet with cornmeal and sea salt, which help remove hard skin. In addition, the presence of peppermint essential oil helps to revitalize the skin and almond oil has moisturizing action.
Ingredients
- 45 g of corn flour;
- 1 tablespoon sea salt;
- 1 teaspoon almond oil;
- 3 drops peppermint essential oil.
Method of preparation
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and add warm water to form a consistent paste. Next, massage the clean, moist feet with the exfoliator, pressing on rough regions with calluses, and then washing with warm, soapy water.
2. Lemon cream and patchouli
Lemon essential oil and cocoa butter are great for soothing and moisturizing calluses, while patchouli essential oil treats chapped skin.
Ingredients
- 60 g cocoa butter;
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil;
- 5 drops of patchouli essential oil.
Method of preparation
Place the cocoa butter in a heavy saucepan and heat on a low heat until it melts, then remove the pan from the heat and add the essential oils of lemon and patchouli to the melted butter, stirring. Pour the mixture into a vial, leave to cool and massage the feet with the cream before bed.
3. Apple cider vinegar
The acidity of apple cider vinegar helps soften the callus and speeds up the healing process.
Ingredients
- 1 swab;
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.
Method of preparation
Dip a cotton swab in apple cider vinegar and apply on calluses before bed, and letting act overnight. The next day exfoliate the region with pumice stone and apply a little coconut oil or olive oil to moisturize. Repeat as often as necessary until the callus disappears.
