Theracort is a steroid anti-inflammatory drug that has Triamcinolone as the active substance.
This drug can be found for topical or injectable use. Topical use is indicated for skin infections such as dermatitis and psoriasis. Its action relieves itching and reduces edema.
Theracort Indications
Alopecia areata; dermatitis; nummular eczema; psoriasis; lichen; lupus erythematosus. Injectable suspension is also indicated in cases of allergic rhinitis (seasonal or perennial), serum sickness, chronic bronchial asthma, hay fever, allergic bronchitis.

Maceration; infection; atrophy; stretch mark; small spots on the skin.
Contraindications of Theracort
Pregnancy risk C; women in the lactation phase; Hipersensibility to any of the formula's components. In the case of use of the injectable suspension, local or systemic viral infection, acute psychosis, active peptic ulcer, acute glomerulonephritis, and active infection not controlled by antibiotics are also contraindicated in cases of latent or newly treated tuberculosis.
How to use Theracort
Topic Use
Adults
- Apply a light coat of the medication, lightly rubbing the affected area. The procedure should be done 1 to 2 times a day.
Injectable use
Adults
- 40 to 80 mg applied deeply into the gluteus muscle. The dose may be repeated at 4-week intervals, if necessary.
Pediatric
- 0.03 to 0.2 mg per kilogram of weight repeated at intervals of 1 to 7 days. Use is not recommended for children up to 6 years of age:
Injectable Theracort should be administered intramuscularly. The appropriate dose is individual and depends on the disease to be treated and the patient's response.
