E. coli enteroaggregation is a bacterium that causes watery diarrhea or bloody diarrhea and mainly affects children due to the consumption of contaminated food or water.
Symptoms of enteroaggregative E. coli
Symptoms of intestinal infection caused by enteroaggregative E. coli include:
- Stomachache;
- Abdominal pain;
- Liquid diarrhea or bloody diarrhea;
- There may be vomiting.
These symptoms usually arise within a few hours after ingestion of the contaminated food for up to 3 days and last for an average of 5 days.
Generally, the individual suffers from 3 or 5 episodes of diarrhea per day during this period and therefore it is important to ingest the same amount of water lost in this way.
Treatment for enteroaggregative E. coli
Treatment for enteroaggregative E. coli can be done by consuming enough water, resting, and eating light foods. For the first 3 days, it is recommended to avoid eating food that holds the intestine, such as apples and bananas, to ensure that the bacteria are eliminated through the stool. In some cases, the doctor may indicate the ingestion of antibiotics.
