Abilify MyCite is an innovative drug with the same active substance as Abilify, which includes a sensor that detects and records the date and time the pill is ingested.
This sensor, the size of a grain of sand, is activated when it comes in contact with stomach acid, transmitting the information to a patient in the patient's skin, and then the data sent to an application installed on the cell phone. This data can be shared with the doctor and family members.
This technology aims to increase adherence to therapy by patients, which not only threatens their health, but can also have great costs for the health system.
What is Abilify MyCite?
This medication is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia and type I bipolar disorder in adults, alone or in combination with other medicines, such as lithium or valproate, as well as in some cases major depression in combination with other medicines.
How to take
Abilify MyCite consists of an aripiprazole tablet and a sensor, a patch that detects the sensor signal, and a smartphone-compatible application that provides patient information.

Detection of the tablet is done about 30 minutes after ingestion, but can take up to 2 hours to be detected by the smartphone. In some cases, the drug may not be detected, and if so, the dose should not be repeated.
How to apply the patch on the skin
