Indications of Imosec
Imosec is indicated for the treatment of non-infectious non-specific acute diarrhea, chronic spoliation diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel diseases. In addition, Imosec may also be used in the treatment of water and electrolyte loss in ileostomies and colostomies.
How to use Imosec
The mode of use of Imosec varies according to age, and should be done as follows:
- Adults: take 2 to 4 mg of Imosec after each diarrheal evacuation. Maximum dose of 16mg per day.
- Children: Take 2 mg of Imose after each diarrheal evacuation up to a maximum of 6mg for each 20kg of body weight per day.
Side Effects of Imosec
Side effects of Imosec include constipation, abdominal distension, painful urination, skin rash, itching, shortness of breath, swelling of the face, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, intestinal gas, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth.
Contraindications of Imosec
Imosec is contraindicated in use in children less than 5 years of age when fecal flow is desired to eliminate the infectious agent and in patients with known hypersensitivity to loperamide during pregnancy and lactation.
