The pH diet is based on the amount of hydrogen ions in food, not being considered caloric intake. In this diet one should consume a greater quantity of alkaline foods than of acidic foods.
The goal is to assist in the elimination of toxins from the body, because they are better expelled when there is consumption of a greater quantity of alkaline foods.

Too much toxins and inflammation are the biggest cause of obesity. The pH diet increases the body's ability to eliminate toxins and hence potentiates the weight loss process, however, it is important that there is a balance between the amount of acid and alkaline food ingested.
