Quinine is a medicine used to treat malaria due to its active principle, quinine, which helps fight the disease virus.

Quinine is initiated for the treatment of malaria resistant to chloroquine and other antimalarials.
Quinine Side Effects
Side effects of quinine include visual disturbances, vomiting, nausea, fever, headache, hives, hypertension and dizziness.
How to use Quinino
The mode of use of Quinino varies according to the age of the patient, and the most common scheme is:
- Adults and children over 12 years: 2 tablets of 650 mg of 8/8 hours;
- Children aged 7 to 11 years: 1 tablet of 650 mg of 8/8 hours;
- Children aged 4 to 6 years: 1 tablet of 650 mg 12/12 hours;
- Infants aged 1 to 3 years: ½ tablet of 650 mg 12/12 hours;
- Babies up to 1 year: ¼ tablet of 650 mg 12/12 hours.
Quinine doses may be changed as directed by your doctor.
Contraindications of quinine
Quinine is contraindicated for pregnant women, as well as for patients with asthma, glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, optic nerve inflammation, anemia, blood disease, neuro muscular disease, hypoglycemia, and ringing in the ears.
