Vildagliptin is an oral hypoglycemic drug that helps reduce and control blood sugar levels, especially when associated with a regular exercise plan and a balanced diet.

Vildagliptin can be purchased alone at the pharmacy under the trade name Galvus or in combination with Metformin, another oral antidiabetic, under the trade name Galvus Met, as 50 mg tablets.

How to use vildagliptin

Vildagliptin should be ingested in the morning or evening during or after meals.

Side effects of vildagliptin

The main side effects of vildagliptin include general discomfort, muscle pain, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, weight loss, palpitations, wheezing, swelling of the face, difficulty swallowing, hives on the skin or difficulty breathing.

Contraindications of vildagliptin

Vildagliptin is contraindicated for children under 18 years of age, breast-feeding women and patients with kidney problems, heart disease, diabetes complications or with hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or any of the components of the formula.
