Lovastatin is a cholesterol-lowering drug known commercially as Lipoclin.
This oral medication besides reducing LDL, also called bad cholesterol and smaller-scale triglycerides, also slightly increases HDL or good cholesterol.

High cholesterol.
Side Effects of Lovastatin
Headache; gases; diarrhea; constipation; nausea; vomiting; malaise; fever.
Contraindications of Lovastatin
Pregnant or lactating women; active liver disease or unexplained increase; hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.
How to Use Lovastatin
Oral use
Adults
- Initiate treatment with 20 mg per day in a single dose. The maximum daily dose is 80 mg. Dosage adjustment, if necessary, should be done at 4-week intervals.
