Spiramycin is a medicine known commercially as Rovamycin.
This oral medication is an antibacterial, indicated for the treatment of infections caused by germs that usually attack the respiratory system, the skin and the genital regions.
Indications of Spiramycin
Toxoplasmosis (during pregnancy); gingival abscess; stomatitis; gingivitis; periodontitis.
Side Effects of Spiramycin
Allergic skin manifestation; diarrhea; vomiting; nausea
Contraindications of Spiramycin
Pregnant or lactating women; Hipersensibility to any of the formula's components.
Mode of Use of Spiramycin
Oral use
Adults
- Bacterial infection : Administer 1 to 2 g of Spiramycin twice daily or 500 mg to 1 g 3 times daily. In severe infections the recommended dose is 2 to 2.5 mg twice daily.
- Toxoplasmosis in pregnant women : In the first trimester of pregnancy, 3 g of spiramycin per day should be given in 3 or 4 doses.
- Dental problems : Administer 4-6 tablets of Spiramycin divided into 3 to 4 shots, for 5 to 10 days.
