Cytarabine

Cytarabine is the active substance of an antineoplastic medicine known commercially as Aracytin.

This injectable drug is indicated for the treatment of individuals with cancer, its action prevents the proliferation of cancerous and tumor cells.

Indications of Cytarabine

Lymphocytic leukemia; acute myelocytic leukemia; chronic myelocytic leukemia; non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

A box of 500 mg Cytarabine containing one ampoule costs approximately 13 reais.

Side Effects of Cytarabine

Fever; inflammation and obstruction of the vein; nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; lack of appetite; anal ulceration; megaloblastosis; skin rashes; redness; itching.

Contraindications of Cytarabine

Pregnancy risk D; women in the lactation phase; chicken pox (chicken pox); bone marrow depression; herpes; Hipersensibility to any of the formula's components.

How to use Cytarabine

Injectable use

Adult

• Acute non-lymphocytic leukemia : Induction with 100 mg per meter of body height per day, on days 1 to 7 or 100 mg per meter of body height every 12 hours on days 1 to 7.
• Meningeal Leukemia : Intrathecal induction of 5 to 75 mg per meter body height, once daily for 4 days, or once every 4 days.
