Symptoms of Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which is the most serious form of erythema multiforme, may be:
- Appearance of bubbles that break easily;
- Bleeding from wounds;
- Fever, malaise and joint pain;
- Conjunctivitis with pus;
- Blindness or perforation of the eyeball;
- Alterations of the gastrointestinal system;
- Nervous system disorders;
- Changes in the functioning of the kidneys and heart;
- Removal of the upper layer of the skin;
- Respiratory insufficiency.
Diagnosis of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome can be made by observing the lesions or by examining blood, urine and specimens of the lesions in the event of suspected secondary infections.
