To remove a thorn from the skin simply and without needing to use needles, which can make the moment even more painful, use a paste of baking soda and after a few minutes the thorn leaves out through the same hole that has entered.
This works because sodium bicarbonate causes a slight swelling of the skin that pushes the spine or barb outwards, and it is not necessary to use other methods that may hurt
This technique is perfect for use on children to take away spikes or wooden splinters from the foot, finger, or other place on the skin.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- Water
Method of preparation
Place the baking soda in a small cup and slowly add the water until a paste consistency is reached. Spread over the hole made by the spine and place a band aid or tape so that the paste does not leave the place and can dry at rest.
After 24 hours, remove the paste and the thorn pulls out of the skin. If this does not happen, the spike or barb may be too deep on the skin, so it is recommended to re-apply the paste and wait another 24 hours. If the barb is slightly out of the way, try removing with tweezers before using the baking soda paste again.
