A good home remedy for stopping diarrhea is to take advantage of the natural properties of apple and carrot, and guava for example.
The unpeeled apple holds the intestine, has plenty of water and micronutrients such as potassium and phosphorus that are also eliminated in situations of vomiting and diarrhea and need to be replenished. The apple can be consumed raw, cooked, in the form of juice, syrup or tea.
1. Apple juice for diarrhea
This apple juice with chamomile tea is great for fighting diarrhea because the apple helps to hold the intestines and chamomile, soothes and decreases abdominal pain.
Ingredients
- 1 tea bag of chamomile
- 1 glass of water
- 1 apple without peel
Method of preparation
Boil the water and add the chamomile tea, let stand for 2 minutes. Then beat the tea with the apple in the blender and drink the following. You can sweeten it with 1 tablespoon of honey because honey provides some energy to the patient.
This juice should be drunk fasting and several times a day to stop bouts of diarrhea. If the patient evacuates more than 3 times a day, more than 3 days in a row with stool of liquid consistency with or without abdominal pain, it is advisable to consult a gastroenterologist.
Try to eat up to two apples per day, without peel, at alternate times to help hold the intestine.
2. Carrot syrup for diarrhea
Carrot syrup with apple is a great home remedy against diarrhea. It is very easy to be prepared and effective in combating this evil.
Ingredients
- 1/2 grated carrot
- 1/2 shaved apple
- 1 cup honey
Method of preparation
In a light pan to boil in a water-boil all ingredients for about 30 minutes over low heat. Then allow to cool and place in a clean glass jar with lid. Take 2 tablespoons of this syrup per day for the duration of the diarrhea.
This syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for 1 month.
3. Guava leaf tea for diarrhea
Both chamomile and guava leaves have antispasmodic properties that decrease bowel contractions helping to retain the stool longer and therefore can be used in case of diarrhea that already lasts for more than 3 days and under medical supervision.
Ingredients
- 1 handful of chamomile flower
- 10 guava leaves
- 250 ml of water
Method of preparation
Put the ingredients in a pan and simmer for about 15 minutes over low heat. Turn off the heat, cover the pan and allow to soften, then strain and drink in small sips several times during the day.
