Mefenamic acid is the generic of Ponstan® that is manufactured by several pharmaceutical laboratories such as Medley, Eurofarma, EMS, Germed. It can be found in pharmacies as tablets.
Indications for Generic Ponstan
Menstrual cramps; rheumatoid arthritis; osteoarthritis; pain (muscular, traumatic, in the teeth, postoperative and postpartum); Headache; menorrhagia; migraine.
Generic Ponstan side effects
Nervousness; blood in the urine; somnolence; dizziness; liver and renal toxicity; peptic ulcer and bleeding; ulceration in the mouth; urticaria; dizziness, blurred vision, vomiting; canker sores; changes in blood; diarrhea; pain when urinating; Headache; skin rash; lack of appetite; gases; swelling; insomnia; eye irritation; indigestion; nausea.
Contraindications of Generic Ponstan
Pregnancy risk C; hypersensitive to any component of the formula.
Warnings
It should not be used with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
How to use Generic Ponstan
Oral use
- 500 mg three times daily. Do not exceed 7 days of treatment.
