It is popularly believed that walnut is good for weight loss because it is a potent diuretic and laxative, which reduces measures in a few days. However, India nut is the fruit of an exotic tree that should not be consumed for being toxic, putting the person's life at risk. This fruit is rounded and mature when it is beige, whitish, and has already been marketed for weight loss, although without registration of Anvisa for lack of scientific proof of its efficacy and safety.
The tree that produces the walnut is the Walnut, also known as Walnut-Nut, European Walnut, Nogueira-de-Iguape, Nogueira-do-Litoral, which is present in southern Brazil and in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and India, Argentina and Paraguay. Its scientific name is Aleurites moluccana, from the family Euphorbiaceae.
Does India Nut Slim?
Indigestion causes severe colic and diarrhea leading to dehydration and changes in blood electrolytes, compromising the function of the kidneys and heart and therefore is not recommended for consumption being harmful to health. Its use is not recommended in natura, in the form of tea or capsules.
Although some products in the form of capsules or tablets were marketed and the fruit itself was sold as a natural product for weight loss and fat burning, its use was not legalized and dangerous to health. Indian nutmeg is very similar to another fruit called Napoleon's hat, which is equally toxic, the scientific name of this is Thevetia peruviana . Napoleon's hat causes heart alterations that can lead to death and therefore can not be consumed either.
In February 2017 Anvisa banned the use and sale of all products that contain nautical and napoleon hats.
Side Effects of Nuts
Indian nutmeg is toxic because it contains saponins, such as toxalbumin, and phorbol which are substances unfit for consumption. The side effects that come after eating guinea-pig are actually the signs of liver intoxication. Are they:
- Nausea, and vomiting;
- Strong abdominal colic;
- Diarrhea;
- Deep eyes;
- Dry mouth;
- Very thirst;
- Irritation and redness on the lips and mouth due to the chewing of the fruit;
- Dilated pupils;
- Pressure drop;
- Fainting;
- Accelerated heart rate;
- Difficulty breathing;
- Fever;
- Slow motion;
- Leg cramps;
- Sensation of tingling and alteration of sensation;
- Headache and general malaise;
- Disorientation in time and space, not knowing who it is, what day of the week it is or where it is.
These symptoms can appear about 20 minutes after the consumption of the clove and can appear even when consuming only 1 fruit and therefore its consumption is contraindicated.
How is the treatment for intoxication?
In case of intoxication after the consumption of guinea-pig, it is indispensable the treatment that is done in the hospital and may include hospitalization in the Center of Intensive Treatment. By affecting the liver, it can cause fulminant hepatitis, and even a liver transplant may be needed.
