In the development of the 4-month-old baby, he is expected to be able to recognize people and to continue to be more interested in them than objects. However, at this age the baby should already have preference for some toys, bringing them to the mouth to know their texture and consistency.
In addition, the baby at 4 months usually can:
- Hold small objects, picking them up and releasing them;
- Sit for a few seconds with support;
- Turn your head to the sides and lift it by leaning on your elbows when lying down;
- View 2 colors;
- To follow the objects with the eyes, turning the head;
- Vocalize syllables such as A, E, and U;
- Give loud shouting to hear yourself talk.
At this stage, the baby likes to sit on his lap, he no longer wants to lie in bed all the time and everything for him is a reason for joke such as changing the diaper, sucking, bathing and walking, strolling, holding a rattle and make noise. On the other hand, the baby at 4 months does not like noise and sudden changes.
Each baby is different, so the development of the baby does not occur equally for all babies. Thus, it is important to respect the baby's developmental rhythm and to take him to the pediatrician regularly for him to assess whether the baby's growth and development is occurring naturally.
