Sotalol is a medicinal product for oral use, known commercially as Sotacor.
This medicine is an antihypertensive, which works by blocking the production of some substances that cause changes in the heart rhythm and in the blood circulation, as is the case of renin, an enzyme released by the kidneys.
Indications of Sotalol
Cardiac arrhythmia; arterial hypertension; chest pains.
Side Effects of Sotalol
Unusual tiredness or weakness; decreased heart rate; nausea; vomiting; irregular heartbeat; chest pain; pressure fall; palpitation; dizziness; difficulty breathing.

How to use Sotalol
Oral use
Adults
- Chest pain and hypertension: Begin treatment with Sotalol 80 mg twice daily. If necessary, adjust the dose every 2 weeks, adding 80 mg in each of the two intakes.
Adult dose limit: 480 mg per day.
Take the medicine 1 hour before or 2 hours after the meal. It is always recommended to take the medicine at the same time each day.
