Toragesic is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with potent analgesic action, which has ketorolac trometamol in its composition, which is generally indicated to eliminate acute, moderate or severe pain and is available in sublingual tablets, oral solution and injectable solution.

What is it for
Toragesic contains tetramethol ketorolac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with potent analgesic action and can therefore be used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe acute pain in the following situations:
- Post-operative of gallbladder, gynecological or orthopedic removal surgeries, for example;
- Fractures;
- Renal colic;
- Biliary colic;
- Backache;
- Severe tooth pain or after dental surgery;
- Soft tissue injuries.

How to take
The dosage of Toragesic depends on the pharmaceutical form recommended by the doctor:
1. Sublingual tablet
The recommended dose is 10 to 20 mg single dose or 10 mg every 6 to 8 hours and the maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 mg. For people over 65 years of age who are under 50 kg or suffering from renal insufficiency, the maximum dose should not exceed 40 mg.
The duration of treatment should not last longer than 5 days.
2. 20 mg / mL oral solution
Each ml of oral solution is equivalent to 1 mg of active substance, so the recommended dose is 10 to 20 drops in a single dose or 10 drops every 6 to 8 hours and the maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 drops.
For people over 65 years of age who are under 50 kg or suffering from renal insufficiency, the maximum dose should not exceed 40 drops.
3. Injectable solution
Toragesic can be given intramuscularly or in the vein, by a health professional:
Single dose:
- People younger than 65 years: The recommended dose is 10 to 60 mg intramuscularly or 10 to 30 mg in the vein;
- People over 65 or with renal impairment: The recommended dose is 10 to 30 mg intramuscularly or 10 to 15 mg in the vein.
- Children 16 years and older: The recommended dose is 1.0 mg / kg intramuscularly or 0.5 to 1.0 mg / kg in the vein.
Multiple doses:
- People under 65 years: The maximum daily dose should not exceed 90 mg, with 10 to 30 mg intramuscularly every 4 to 6 hours or 10 to 30 mg in the bolus vein.
- People over 65 years or with renal impairment: The maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 mg for the elderly and 45 mg for patients with renal insufficiency, with 10 to 15 mg intramuscularly, every 4-6 hours or 10 to 15 mg in the vein, every 6 hours.
- Children over 16 years of age: The maximum daily dose should not exceed 90 mg for children over 16 years of age and 60 mg for patients with renal impairment and patients weighing less than 50 kg. Dose adjustments may be considered depending on weight 1.0 mg / kg intramuscularly or 0.5 to 1.0 mg / kg in the vein, followed by 0.5 mg / kg in the vein every 6 hours.

Possible side effects
The most common side effects that can occur with the use of this medication headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, poor digestion, abdominal pain or discomfort, diarrhea, increased sweating and swelling in case of the use of the injectable.
Who should not use
The Toragesic remedy should not be used by people with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum, in case of bleeding in the digestive system, haemophilia, blood clotting disorders, after myocardial revascularization surgery, in case of heart or cardiovascular disease, infarction, stroke, when taking heparin, acetylsalisylic acid or any other anti-inflammatory remedy after surgery with high risk of bleeding, bronchial asthma in case of severe renal failure or nasal polyposis.
In addition, it should also not be used by smokers, and in case of ulcerative colitis, during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding. It is also contraindicated as prophylactic in analgesia before and during surgery, due to inhibition of platelet aggregation and consequent increased risk of bleeding.
