Pioglitazone is the active substance of an antidiabetic medicine known commercially as Actos.

This oral medication is used in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, since its action increases the insulin sensitivity of the main tissues of the body, thus stabilizing the level of glucose in the blood.

How to Use Pioglitazone

Oral use

Adults

Administer 15 or 30 mg per day. If the response is inadequate, increase the dose gradually to a maximum of 45 mg per day.

If the clinical response is still inadequate, consider combining the combination of medicines according to the medical prescription.

Dose limit for adults and the elderly: 45 mg daily (as monotherapy).
