Ginger should not be consumed in doses greater than 1g per body kg that the woman has until 11 weeks of gestation. Thus, taking up to 3 cups of this tea per day is not contraindicated during pregnancy.
Black tea, mate tea and green tea should also be avoided during pregnancy because they contain caffeine. Other teas such as Turmeric tea, Indian Clove tea and Dandelion tea, for example, are not totally contraindicated in pregnancy, however, their use should only be done under medical indication.
