Ganciclovir is an antiviral known commercially as Cymevene.
It is a medicine for oral and injectable use and is used in the treatment of infections caused by cymegalovirus and herpes virus.
Ganciclovir also helps prevent infections in individuals who have received bone or bone marrow transplants.

How to use Ganciclovir
Oral use
Adults
- Administer 1, 000 mg, 3 times a day.
Patients with kidney problems
- Administer 1, 000 mg 3 times a day or 500 mg 6 times a day.
Children
- Doses not established
Injectable use
Adults
- Administer 5 mg for each kg of the individual for 1 hour, 2 times a day. This procedure should be repeated for 21 days.
