Salmeterol is the active principle of medically sold as serevent diskus, which is used in the treatment of asthma and other respiratory difficulties.
Indications
Prevention of bronchospasm associated with asthma, bronchitis, emphysema; prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm.
Contraindications
Pregnancy risk C; breast-feeding; allergy to some component of the formula; acute asthma
Side effects
Headache, inflammation of the nose and throat; respiratory infection.
Other considerations:
Prolonged and frequent use of salmeterol inhaled may cause habituation and the drug becomes ineffective.
