Esmya is a medicine used to treat symptoms caused by uterine fibroids such as menstrual bleeding or discomfort and pain in the belly.
This remedy acts on the body by modifying the activity of Progesterone, a female sex hormone that is produced naturally by the body. Thus, Esmya helps to reduce the size of fibroids, as well as stop or reduce the bleeding that usually occurs.
In addition, this medicine may also be used in the preparation for surgery to remove myoma.
How to take
Generally, you should take 1 5 mg tablet per day for treatment periods of up to 3 months each and treatment should be started as soon as possible during the second menstrual period after completion of the previous treatment.
Side effects
Some of the side effects of Esmya may include decreased or absent menstrual periods, thickening of the lining of the uterus, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, nausea, acne, muscle pain, tiredness, weight gain, ovarian cyst, pain or breast tenderness or abdominal pain.
Contraindications
Esmya is contraindicated for pregnant and nursing women, patients with vaginal bleeding that are not caused by uterine fibroids, uterine cancer, cervix, ovaries or breast and for patients with allergy to Ulipristal acetate or any of the components of the formula.
