Vibativ is an injectable medicine used to treat or prevent bacterial infections that are proven or suspected to be caused by bacteria.
Telavancin is the main component of Vibativ's Theravance laboratory.
Indication of Vibativ
For the treatment of adult patients with complicated infections of the skin and the structure of the skin caused by sensitive gram-positive bacteria. Vibativ will not treat a viral infection, such as the common cold or the flu.
Contraindication of Vibativ
Pregnancy; renal impairment.
Side Effects of Vibativ
Urticaria, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, diarrhea, drowsiness, confusion, mood changes, increased thirst, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, bloating, weight gain, shortness of breath, urinating less than usual, chills or tremors, headache, dizziness, the appearance of foam in the urine, strange or unpleasant taste in the mouth, itching or vaginal discharge, among other symptoms.
Call your doctor immediately if you have a serious side effect such as watery or bloody diarrhea, confusion, thirst, bloating, feeling short of breath, or urinating less than usual.
How to use Vibativ
Vibativ is given as an injection through a needle placed in the vein. Your doctor, nurse, or other health care provider will give you this injection. The duration of treatment should be guided by the severity and site of infection and clinical progress of the patient.
Recommended dosage: 10 mg / kg, administered over a 60-minute period in patients greater than 18 years of age by intravenous infusion, once every 24 hours, for 7 to 14 days.
Warnings and Precautions
Tell your doctor if you are receiving chemotherapy or using medicines to treat an intestinal disorder, medication to prevent organ transplant rejection, antiviral medications, pain or arthritis medications, diuretics, or any other injectable antibiotics.
