Piracetam is indicated to improve mental activities such as memory, learning and attention and is therefore used in the treatment of loss of brain function during aging or after stroke, for example.
In addition, it can also be used in the treatment of dyslexia in children or vertigo and balance disorders, when caused by vasomotor or psychic changes.
How to take
The mode of use of Piracetam should always be guided by a doctor, however, the recommended daily dose is usually:
- To improve memory and attention : 2.4 to 4.8 g per day, divided into 2 to 3 shots;
- Vertigo : 2.4 to 4.8 g daily, every 8 or 12 hours;
- Dyslexia in children: 3.2 g per day, divided into 2 doses.
In some cases, as the presence of renal or hepatic diseases, it is necessary to adjust the dose to avoid aggravation of the lesions in these organs.
Main side effects
The use of this medication can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nervousness, irritability, anxiety, headache, confusion, insomnia and tremors.
Who should not take
Piracetam is contraindicated for women in the first trimester of pregnancy, as are patients with Chorea of Huntington or hypersensitive to any of the components of the formula.
