Indications
The use of Aminophylline is indicated in the case of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or pulmonary emphysema.
Mode of Use
The use of Aminophylline can be done orally or by injection. For adults it is recommended 600 to 1600 mg per day, divided into 3 or 4 outlets and for children over 6 months of age12 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 3 or 4 outlets.
In the case of Injection 240 to 480 mg is recommended, 1 or 2 times daily, intravenously for 5 to 10 minutes for adults.
Side effects
Some side effects of drug use include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, tremor, irritability, restlessness, and excessive urination.
Contraindications
Aminophylline is contraindicated during pregnancy and breast-feeding and children less than 6 months of age.
