Folitropin is a substance that helps a woman's body produce more mature follicles by having an action similar to the FSH hormone that is naturally present in the body.
In this way, follitropin serves to increase the number of mature ovaries produced by the ovaries, increasing the chances of pregnancy in women who are using assisted reproduction techniques, such as in vitro fertilization, for example.
This medicine may also be available under the trade name Rekovelle and can only be obtained with a prescription.
How to take
The follitropin delta should only be used with the guidance and supervision of a physician experienced in the treatment of fertility problems, since the dose should always be calculated according to the concentration of some specific hormones in the body of each woman.
Treatment with Rekovelle is done with an injection into the skin and should be started 3 days after menstruation, terminated when there is adequate follicle development, which usually occurs after 9 days. When the results are not as expected, and the woman can not get pregnant, this cycle can be repeated again.
Possible side effects
The most common side effects of Rekovelle use include headache, nausea, pelvic pain, tiredness, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, vomiting, constipation, vaginal homorragia and pain in the breasts.
Who should not use
Follitropin delta is contraindicated for women with tumors in the hypothalamus or pituitary gland, ovarian cysts, enlarged ovaries, unexplained gynecological haemorrhages, primary ovarian failure, malformations of the sex organs, or fibroid tumors of the uterus.
In addition, this remedy should also not be used in cases of ovarian, uterine or breast cancer, as well as in women with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula.
