How to use Mebendazole
The mode of use of Mebendazole varies according to the problem to be treated, and the general guidelines include:
- Ascaridiasis and trichuriasis: doses of 100mg (morning) and 100mg (afternoon) for 3 consecutive days for both adults and children.
- Oxyuriasis: 100 to 200 mg in 1 single dose; if cure with this initial dose is not achieved, a second series should be repeated 15 days later.
- Triquinose: 200 to 400mg 3 times a day for 3 days, and thereafter 400 to 500mg 3 times a day for 10 days.
- Hydatidosis: High tissue concentrations are required, therefore, doses of 40 to 50 mg / kg / day are reserved for severe cases, distributed every 6 hours for 3 to 9 months, in order to reduce the size of the cyst before surgery.
