The compliant hymen is a hymen more elastic than normal and tends not to break during the first intimate contact, and may remain even after months of penetration. Although it is possible for it to rupture at some point during penetration, in some women the compliant hymen is only ruptured during normal delivery.
The hymen is a skin located just in the entrance of the vagina, which has a small opening that allows the menstruation and small vaginal secretions to escape. Normally, it ruptures when it is pressed inward during the first intercourse or insertion of objects into the vagina, such as a menstrual cup or internal absorbent, with a small amount of bleeding when it breaks.
Most common questions about hymen
The main doubts about the hymen are answered below.
1. Does the inner absorbent strip virginity by breaking the hymen?
The smaller absorbent internal or menstrual cup can be placed very carefully inside the vagina by girls who have not yet had any sexual intercourse. However, with the introduction of these objects it is possible for the hymen to rupture. See how to use the inner absorbent safely.
Virginity does not have the same meaning for all girls because it is the term that refers to having no intimate contact with another person and therefore not all girls consider that they lost their virginity only because they broke the hymen. Thus, for these the inner absorbent and the menstrual cup although they can break the hymen, does not take away virginity.
2. How do I know if I have complacent hymen?
The only way to know if the hymen is complacent is through trying to break it. It is normal for the hymen not to break with the attempt to insert a finger into the vagina, for example. However, this can happen and if you do not want to break the hymen this way it is advised not to introduce anything into the vaginal canal and leave to discover during intimate contact. If the hymen can still be seen after intimate contact it is because it can be complacent.
Women with compliant hymen may also experience pain during sexual intercourse. In these cases, when it hurts during intimate contact, or when the woman wants to know if she has complacent hymen, it is best to go to the gynecologist to clarify her doubts.
3. When the hymen breaks, is there always bleeding?
As the hymen has small blood vessels, when it breaks usually bleeds, however, in case of compliant hymen this does not always happen, because the hymen does not break or does not break completely, but with every attempt to break, it is normal to have small traces of blood.
4. What to do to break a complacent hymen?
Despite the elasticity of the tissue, any hymen can be broken, even if it is complacent. Thus, it is advisable to try to break the hymen very carefully so as not to get frustrated or hurt, doing it gradually, as the days go by. It may be helpful to start by inserting the index finger and gradually progressing until penile penetration is possible. However, the compliant hymen may not break even after several penetrations, breaking only during normal delivery.
5. Is there surgery for compliant hymen?
There is no specific surgery for those who have compliant hymen but there are surgeries in which it is cut or removed, but it is usually done on people with imperforate hymen. Know what imperforate hymen is and what the symptoms and characteristics are.
It is best to talk to the gynecologist to evaluate the hymen and if it causes too much discomfort in the intimate contact to know if it is justified to have surgery.
