Prozac is an anti-depressant drug with active ingredient Fluoxetine.
This is an oral medication used in the treatment of psychological disorders such as depression and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Prozac acts by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain, a neurotransmitter responsible for the feelings of pleasure and well-being of an individual. Although it is effective the improvement of the symptoms in patients can take up to 4 weeks to appear.
Prozac Indications
Depression (associated or not with anxiety); nervous bulimia; obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD); premenstrual disorder (PMS); pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder; irritability; malaise caused by anxiety.

Contraindications of Prozac

How to use Prozac
Oral use
Adults
- Depression : Administer 20 g of Prozac daily.
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) : Administer 20g to 60mg of Prozac daily.
- Bulimia Nervosa : Administer 60 mg of Prozac daily.
- Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder : Administer 20 mg of Prozac during all days of the menstrual period or every other day. Treatment should begin 14 days before the first day of the menstrual cycle. The procedure should be repeated with each new menstrual cycle.
