How to use Bactrim
The way Bactrim is used is usually:
- Adults and children over 12 years: 1 or 2 tablets every 12 hours after main meals;
- Children aged 6 to 12 years: 1 measurement of the pediatric suspension (10 ml), every 12 hours or according to medical indications;
- Children aged 6 months to 5 years: ½ measurement of the pediatric suspension (5 ml) every 12 hours;
- Children under 5 months: ¼ of the pediatric suspension (2.5 ml) every 12 hours.
However, depending on the type of infection, the doctor may prescribe another dosage to the patient.
Side Effects of Bactrim
The main side effects of Bactrim include nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions, fungal infections, or liver problems.
Contraindications of Bactrim
Bactrim is contraindicated for newborns and patients with liver, kidney, or Dofetilide treatment. In addition, Bactrim should also not be used by patients with hypersensitivity to Sulfonamide or Trimethoprim.
