Olmetec is an antihypertensive drug that contains olmesartan medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that relaxes blood vessels, allowing blood pressure to be reduced. That way, this drug is usually used in cases of high blood pressure.
This medicine can be bought in the conventional pharmacies at the dose of 10, 20 or 40 mg, as your doctor has told you.
How to take
The use of Olmetec is usually initiated with the ingestion of 1 10 mg tablet once daily. However, if this dose is not enough to keep the pressure under control, the doctor may increase the dose to 20 or 40 mg once a day, for example.
The tablets can be taken with or without food and should not be broken or cut.
Possible side effects
The most common side effects of Olmetec include dizziness, headache, nausea, poor digestion, diarrhea, stomach pain, tiredness, cough, chest pain, swelling of the ankles and legs, blood in the urine or pain in the joints.
In rare cases, other effects such as rapid decrease in blood pressure, feeling of malaise, dizziness, vomiting, muscle pain and itching of the skin may occur.
Who should not take
Olmetec is contraindicated for pregnant women over 3 months of gestation or people with diabetes, kidney problems, yellow skin and eyes, or allergy to any of the ingredients in the formula.
In addition, it should be used with caution in those who have liver disease, heart failure, increased blood potassium levels or problems in the adrenal glands.
