How to use Melatonin
Take 1 capsule of melatonin 30 minutes before bedtime. Melatonin does not induce sleep, but improves its quality.
The dose ranges from 1 to 5 mg depending on the need of the individual. Treatment is usually started at lower doses and increased as needed. Elderly may require higher doses and melatonin can also be found in 20 mg capsules. However, this supplement should only be used under medical supervision.
Price
The melatonin supplement is not marketed in Brazil due to lack of registration in Anvisa, but each packet with 180 capsules of 1 mg of Melatonin costs the equivalent of 120 reais.
Side effects
Headache, nausea and malaise may occur when used in excessive doses.
Contraindications
Children under 12 years of age, in case of pregnancy and during lactation, due to lack of scientific proof of the safety of this supplement in these phases.
