Spontaneous remission of HPV usually occurs between 4 months to 2 years after infection with the virus. However, when a person is infected by a type of virus at high risk of developing cancer, such as type 16 or 18, spontaneous healing may be more difficult to achieve.
See in what other diseases spontaneous remission may occur.
Although there is treatment for the symptoms of HPV, there is still no antiviral medicine capable of definitively eliminating the virus from the body, which is only possible when the immune system is able to fight it. Thus, it can be said that not all people can have spontaneous HPV cure.
It is therefore recommended to consult a gynecologist for a woman, or a urologist in the case of a man, when symptoms that indicate HPV appear, such as genital warts, for example to identify the HPV virus type and initiate appropriate treatment. Confirm what the signs are in: Symptoms of HPV.
