Jurubeba, thistle, artichoke or boldo teas are excellent home remedies to combat yellow fever because they act on the liver that is affected in this disease.
However, these teas only complement the treatment that must be indicated by the doctor that can be done with painkillers and antipyretics that do not contain acetylsalicílico, not to increase the risk of hemorrhage.
Drinking plenty of fluids and prefering easily digestible foods is also important to recover faster and so it is advised to eat more fruits and vegetables at all meals and prefer to drink water, natural fruit juice or teas, avoiding alcoholic beverages and the refrigerants, at this stage.
Here's how to prepare and consume each of these medicinal plants:
1. Tea of jurubeba
Jurubeba has liver-protecting, digestive properties to purify blood, decrease fever and clear the liver and spleen, and thus help relieve symptoms of yellow fever such as fever, vomiting and yellowing of the skin and eyes.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of jurubeba leaves
- 500 ml of water
Method of preparation
Put the water to boil and then boiled, add the jurubeba leaves. Then allow to melt, strain and drink 3 cups of warm, sugar-free tea per day.
2. Thistle

Its leaves can be consumed boiled in water and salt, but it is also advised the alcoholic extract prepared with these leaves. Another possibility is to take the artichoke capsules that can be bought in pharmacies and natural products stores. For tea:
Ingredients:
- 150 ml of boiling water
- 1 tablespoon crushed artichoke leaves
Method of preparation:
Place the hot water on the leaves and let stand for 10 minutes. Strain and take 1 cups before each meal.
It is contraindicated for pregnant women and during breastfeeding due to lack of scientific evidence of their safety in these phases.
4. Bilberry
The boldo calms and improves digestion and protects the liver from the effects of free radicals, being useful to aid the function of this organ. It can be found in tablets, dragees, but is easily found in Brazil, being present in many backyards and flower shops. For tea:
Ingredients:
- 150 ml of boiling water
- 1 tablespoon chopped pineapple leaves
Method of preparation:
Place the hot water on the leaves and let stand for 10 minutes. Strain and take 2 to 3 cups a day.
It should not be used in case of biliary obstruction, nor for more than 4 consecutive weeks. It is also advised against during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
