The symptoms of donovanose, which is an STD, usually include:
- Wounds in the male or female genitalia;
- Irritated genital skin;
- Easy Bleeding;
- Genital lesions with secretion;
- Increased lymphatic vessels;
- Elephantiasis in the genitals;
- Tumor development;
- Fistulas.
Donovanose is caused by the bacterium Klebsiella granulomatis and without proper treatment there may be complications, such as the proliferation of bacteria and the onset of tumors.
Treatment of the disease is done through the administration of drugs such as doxycycline, erythromycin and ciprofloxacin, but very extensive wounds may have to be removed through surgeries.
