Nasal lavage for sinusitis is an excellent home remedy to aid in the treatment and relief of sinusitis-like facial congestion symptoms.
This is because this nasal lavage dilates the nasal passages, helping the secretions to come out more easily, leaving the airways free, reducing pain and discomfort. If nasal lavage is done after nebulisation for sinusitis the results will be even better.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon baking soda;
- 2 teaspoons of sea salt;
- 250 ml of warm boiled water.
Method of preparation
Mix all ingredients until a homogeneous solution remains and store in a tightly capped glass container.
Using a dropper, dab 2 to 3 drops of this saline solution into each nostril and turn the head slightly backward, letting the liquid penetrate the nose, reaching the throat.
This nasal lavage should be done 2 to 3 times a day for the duration of the disease crisis and ideally after a nebulization. Here's how to perform nebulizations with medicinal plants by watching the video:
Nasal wash with serum and syringe
Nasal lavage with a syringe helps to remove excess secretions inside the sinuses and also eliminates possible dirt that is inside the nose, aggravating the symptoms.
This wash should ideally be made as sterile saline, but can also be made with a mixture of 1 cup of warm mineral water with 3 tablespoons of diluted salt. Tap water should not be used as it may contain bacteria that can lead to infection.
Ingredients
- 100 ml of whey or mineral water with salt;
- 1 clean syringe.
How to make
Pull the serum or mineral water mixture into the syringe. Then tilt your head slightly to one side and insert the tip of the syringe into the nostril above. For example, if the head is tilted to the left side, place the tip of the syringe into the right nostril.
Tighten the plunger of the syringe until the water begins to enter the nostril. Adjust the tilt of the head until the serum starts to flow out of the other nostril. In some cases, the serum may accumulate inside the sinuses before you leave, which may cause slight discomfort to the face.
After doing the wash, blow the nose to remove excess secretions and repeat for the other nostril.
