Theophylline is an antiasthmatic drug known commercially as Teolong.

This oral medication is indicated for individuals suffering from asthmatic attacks and other respiratory diseases. The action of Theophylline is to relax the musculature of the bronchi and pulmonary blood vessels, thus facilitating the entry of air into the lungs.

Bronchial asthma; bronchospasm; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; pulmonary emphysema.

Mode of use of Theophylline

Oral use

Adults

• Administer 300 mg of Theophylline every 12 hours for 3 days. Then evaluate the symptoms and if possible maintain a single dose of 300 mg every 24 hours.

Children weighing more than 30 kg

• As long as they can swallow the capsule, use the same dose as adults.
