Venlafaxine is the active ingredient in the drug commercially sold as Efexor, an antidepressant which is also indicated for the treatment of several types of pathological anxiety.
Indications
Depression in adults, pathological anxiety, low levels of serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain.
Contraindications
Pregnancy, lactation, high blood pressure, heart problems, seizures, hyponatraemia, easy bleeding, high cholesterol, bipolar disorder, aggressive behavior.
Adverse effects
Difficulty breathing or swallowing swelling of the face, throat, hands or feet, nervousness, itching, heart problems, high blood pressure, blurred vision, dilated pupils, dizziness, fainting, convulsions, hyperactivity, euphoria.
How to use
According to medical recommendations. Usually the initial dose is 75mg once daily at the meal, and may reach the maximum dose of 375mg / day.
