Artistic Gymnastics, also known as Olympic gymnastics, is an Olympic sport that involves motor coordination, muscular strength, flexibility, musicality and body control. This sport can be practiced by children from 5 years of age. The sooner you start an athlete's career, the greater your chances of success.
Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus
Artistic gymnastics is divided into feminine and masculine and some different devices are used. The devices used in the men's events are the parallel bars, fixed bar, rings, horse with handles, ground and heels on the table. In the women's events, the beam, the ground, the jump on the table and the asymmetrical bars are used.
Physical Training in Artistic Gymnastics
The trainings performed in the artistic gymnastics are daily and range from 4 to 8 hours. The trainer tries to exploit the maximum body of the athlete, aiming to improve his technique, flexibility, strength and body awareness.
Training can be directed only to the recreation of the individual or to a competition, requiring more motivation and determination of the athlete and his coach. During training, some precautions are taken to maintain athlete safety and to avoid injury: mattresses that cushion the impacts and frequent monitoring of physical therapists are used.
A gymnast with intensive training develops characteristics such as a lot of flexibility, muscular strength, short stature, balance and body control. Genetics help in many situations.
The athlete should develop autonomy and seek to achieve the best possible performance.
